Several tricks to correctly ride the inflatable stand up paddle board. Store your inflatable SUP in the right temperature range. This is less important than the key factors 1. keeping your board dry and 2. keeping it out of the sun, but climate control is something SUPers ask about often. Anywhere between 40-110 degrees Fahrenheit (5-40 degrees Celsius) is recommended. Again, inflatable SUPs are durable, but extreme conditions aren’t ideal for any sporting equipment and that’s true for your paddle board too. Avoid freezing cold or baking hot conditions.
Paddles for inflatable SUP: You can buy the best inflatable SUP out there, but without a good paddle you won’t get very far. Getting a quality paddle that works well with your body and paddling style will make stand up paddle boarding a bunch more fun. Does that mean you have to buy a top-of-the-line paddle? Not necessarily. To choose the right inflatable SUP paddle for you, consider these factors: Getting the right size paddle is key to maintaining proper paddling form and efficiency. The materials used to construct a SUP paddle play a role in determining the weight and stiffness of the paddle. Generally, a lightweight paddle is preferred, but keep in mind that you usually pay more for less weight. Blade size, shape and offset: The size, shape and offset of the paddle blade define how the blade moves through the water. You’ll choose a blade based on the type of paddling you do, your body type and personal preference. Usually, the larger you are, the bigger you’ll want your blade to be.
Even on a cloudy day, a good workout on a SUP will get you some benefit of Vitamin D. If it’s a nice sunny day, you’ll feel a lot happier when you finish your workout. Lose weight: paddle boarding is a great way to lose those few extra pounds. While you may not think a gentle paddle is doing anything, it will be. A SUP will help you build up muscle slowly, and as you do you will tone up, look leaner and start to feel fitter. Paddle boarding can burn 300-400 calories, just by paddling casually across the water. As your strength and fitness increase, you can start to paddle harder and longer, and this then gives you a more physical workout – and this is where you can really start to burn those calories. Walking and running are seen as good ways to burn calories and lose weight, but a SUP is a lower impact sport and so you are less likely to suffer an injury and more likely to continue with it.

An extra inflatable stand up paddle board tip: To non surfers or regular water goers, it is not immediately obvious which end is the front/nose of the board. Many beginner boards are large round nose and tail boards with excellent stability, often a large EVA deck area so you can move (and fall) comfortably. So before you jump on the board, check where the fins are and make sure they are in the back when you paddle! Fins at the back help keep the board straight while you paddle, this is called tracking, and help with grip while you surf waves. Fins up front make for a very twitchy paddle board that just won’t go straight no matter how hard you try!
