High quality Nepal vacation destinations and helicopter transportation providers: Can a helicopter land at Everest base camp? The answer is Yes. The helicopter can land at Everest base camp. Not all helicopters can Land at 5500 Meters. Specific types of helicopters have the power to light and lift at that altitude. The most popular helicopter is AIRBUS AS350 H125. All Nepal operators operating helicopters operate H125 for altitudes higher than 4000 Meters. Besides, there is weight lifting limitation at higher altitudes due to thin air, temperature, and wind. The higher you go, the lighter the air and the higher the wind. This directly affects the weight-lifting capacity of helicopter rotors. The suggested weight-lifting capacity at Everest base camp is a maximum of 250 KG. So, an H125 helicopter can usually lift 3 persons from the Everest base camp. Manaslu region trekking is one of the hidden gem in the central north part of Nepal. Manaslu towering at 8167m the 8th highest peak of the world is conquered by few and acclaimed as one of the most dangerous 8000er peak. The Manaslu region trekking gives you an opportunity to walk through one of the most varied landscape due to it’s wide altitude variation. The trek starts from Arughat which is at mere 500m and goes to the elevation of Larkya pass at 5143m. You experience the sub tropical climate to the high mountain climate in one trek. At the end of your trek you also traverse through the section of Annapurna circuit trek making it an ace. The journey is full of scenic locations, beautiful villages, rich Tibetan influenced culture and amazing mountain views. The Manaslu region trek can be done directly through the Larkya or visiting the isolated and sacred villages of Tsum valley. It requires a special permit to get in this region which is still far away from the modern civilization. We can see the Buddhist monasteries, Mani walls, prayer flags all along our way. The region is attracting more visitors in recent years. However, the authenticity and the unmatchable panorama is still intact which the visitors get to see still today. Manaslu region trek is certainly a great way to see diverse Nepal and soak in it’s pure form.
Bring Some of your Favorite Treats. For many people, including myself, it can be very difficult to eat at high altitude. Even with all of the physical energy you are exerting, for some reason, food does not always sound good when you are at altitude. Personally, I am not sure if it is nerves of the unexpected for me or the altitude at all, but forcing myself to eat in the mountains can be a daunting task. The main thing to remember regarding this is that you are burning a TON of calories while trekking in the Himalayas and your body needs to replenish these calories if you want the best possible chance of being successful. It is so important to eat, whatever it may be, to get in these much needed calories. This is why I always pack a few extra goodies in my bag before leaving home! Having some familiar food favorites in the mountains can be just the push you need on tough days to get through them. I have been known to bring anything from protein bars to peanut butter and a bag of my favorite sweets in my pack, when I might need an extra kick! Don’t let this scare you into thinking that you will not have enough food to eat in the mountains”? this is far from the reality. You will be overwhelmed by the plethora of food on offer every meal, everything from eggs to stir-fry and spaghetti is always on offer as you order your food from a menu at the majority of the tea houses. There is always plenty of food to choose from in the mountains, but when your tummy is having a hard time with the altitude, those familiar snacks may be all you can get down. So remember, within reason (you definitely do not want to be carrying too much un-necessary weight up the mountain), bring yourself a little treat when for you may need it the most!
Everest region is rich in flora and fauna. There are quiet diverse since the region ranges in altitude from less than 2000 meters above sea level at Jiri to the high peaks of the Himalaya at over 8000 meters. Up to 4000 meters you will find dense stands of forest including pine, oak and the spectacular flowering rhododendrons. The crop under cultivation will depend on the season that you visit but expect to see wheat, barley, corn and potatoes at some stage. Domesticated animals will range from cattle, buffalo, goats and pigs to the all-purpose beast of mountains-the yak.
Go with an Established Tour Company – You probably think I threw this in here just to give our own company a plug so it’s probably better to relate it with a story. My aunt went on a trek to Everest a few years back and decided not to use our company because it cost $50 more than the independent guide she found. Everything went well until she got back to Lukla where bad weather was limiting the number of flights going out. Our good relationships with the locals meant we were able to get our clients on some of the flights. On the other hand, my aunt was stuck for 2 days and missed her international flight making that $50 look like a lot less of a bargain. She told me this after the fact otherwise I would have tried to help but it’s a good story since it highlights how important having good local relationships is and it’s just one way of many an established company can add value.
The Helambu region is a popular trekking area, particularly with trekking companies offering guided hikes. This is largely because it is close to Kathmandu, does not reach astoundingly high elevations, and offers some beautiful mountain scenery. For many of these same reasons, it is often touted by tour groups as being easy. However, many hikers who come here on tours find it is more demanding than they feel they were led to believe and more difficult than they anticipate. Trekking in the Himalayas is always demanding, and although it is not as high as other treks, it is still a physically demanding hike and trekkers should be in good physical condition. With that in mind, this is a beautiful trek and well worth the effort.

The term ”Annapurna” is a Sanskrit name which literally means “full of food” (feminine form), but is normally translated as Goddess of the Harvests. In Hinduism, Annapurna is a goddess of fertility and agriculture and an avatar of Durga. Annapurna is a series of peaks in the Himalayas, Annapurna I, stands at making it the 10th-highest peak in the world. The fact is main Himalayan range runs south of the border with Tibet means that the northern parts of the area are in the rain shadow and are considerably drier than the southern slopes of the mountains.
