Kitchen remodel services North London with Point5Kitchens: At the initial meeting we will seek to get a clear understanding of how you will live within the space and what you hope to achieve. We listen carefully to your likes and dislikes and will discuss different materials with you. We encourage customers to find images online of examples they like to help communicate this. Measurements are also taken or architects drawings can be supplied for a new build project. We will then start our creative process and draw up our design for you. If this is close then we can go into greater detail and produce a rendered visual, as well as calculate the pricing. The next stage is the tweaking and finalisation of the finer details. Samples are produced and exact colours and finishes agreed. After the design and costs are approved, there is a final site survey and a full CAD drawing is produced. Once everything has been signed off the deposit is taken and the job goes into production. The production stage typically takes between 10 and 12 weeks before installation. The thoroughness of this process allows you to be fully involved in the project and to best ensure that the final bespoke result is one that you will love. It is an exciting journey… and one we look forward to guiding you on. See additional details at kitchen remodeling.

Maximizing space in the kitchen is a trend that will last. This trend makes use of a corner or even a side wall, creating built-in seating on one side paired with a dining table and a couple of chairs on the other side. There are no rules for how to create a comfortable dining nook — just use cozy furniture like a small sofa or armchairs to encourage lounging. Natural wood cabinets, earthy colors, and ample light are a trend that, when done right, can lend a comfortable and easy vibe to your kitchen. For years, stainless steel finishes ruled the kitchen appliance world. Now white appliances are back, and they look clean and modern paired with a timeless all-white kitchen design or with cabinets painted mint green, navy blue, or light coral.

A marble countertop in a kitchen where cooking happens won’t always look pristine, no matter how well you maintain it. But that’s part of the beauty of natural stone, says Bruno; over the years it acquires a patina that lends character, and many people consider that an asset. But there are still some things you can do to protect and preserve it. We asked Bruno for his advice on the best way to care for a marble countertop. Start with a good sealant. “Marble is one of the more porous stones, so you have to protect the surface by keeping it well sealed,” says Bruno. “When you buy the countertop, there’s no sealant on it. You could ask the installer to apply the sealant, but you can easily do it yourself once the countertop is in place.”

I love the look of light tile and dark grout, but when we built I had everything put in white on white. Staining the grout dark is a simple and easy way to mimic the modern, international look of classic subway tile. I’ve done this at our home, and loved the results. I had no idea that there were so many simple yet dramatic DIY bathroom upgrades besides the standard switching textiles and painting the walls. These do-it-yourself projects make a big impact by upgrading the fixtures, hardware, and whole landscape of the bathroom—you can even do all five in just one weekend!

Antique Details: Right now, Cathlyn Davis, founder of her namesake interior design firm in Austin, Texas, is noticing her clients gravitate towards not-so-new details in their new kitchens. “The use of antiques is coming back, whether it be an old butcher block used as an island or ornate vintage hardware on cabinets,” she says. Treasures such as copper pots and original artwork (Kindred’s personal favorite) are contributing to the trend as well.

Removing original period windows and exterior doors can destroy a period property’s character, and its value, unless they are sympathetically replaced. Authentic replicas are expensive, so always consider repair as a first option. Cheaper, off-the shelf joinery is rarely appropriate and is unlikely to fit the original openings and so will look wrong. If the original external joinery has already been removed, research neighbouring properties or books to find appropriate styles. Avoid modern hybrid products, such as front doors with built-in fanlights. Try and observe the techniques and materials used in the building’s original construction and try and repair, or replace, on a like-for-like basis. Internally, try and preserve original doors, floorboards, fireplaces and plaster mouldings if they are still intact.
